We are a premier Hunter/Jumper training facility offering:
Instruction given to riders of all ages and levels on our school horses or yours. For those riders wishing to show, we offer a classic systematic training program taught by a talented head trainer to assure you that every skill needed to succeed is learned in a sequential manner.
This is a personalized, positive and proven training program with attention to every detail. You will become a "winner" with this proven approach.
Training of your equine partner is a huge part of our program. All of our show horses are in an individualized training program. Most show horses need to be continuously schooled by an advanced rider to execute and perform all the detailed skills needed to be a top contender in our sport. Training enhances their athletic abilities, protects your investment, improves their overall sense of confidence and job focus in turn enabling them to teach their inexperienced riders, giving them more confidence. Many problems and issues can be solved and avoided altogether through the use of a good training program.
Amy Gurney has been training horses for 30 years. She estimates she has ridden or trained over 300 horses in her lifetime. Amy has trained horses and ponies in the Massachusetts area for some of the industries larger barns and trainers over the course of her career. She has done everything from breaking babies to galloping race horses to training and showing self-made hunters and jumpers at "A" and "AA" shows.
Some of the young horses she has trained and showed to Championships at "A" and "AA" shows include (Hunters) Game Boy, Monte Carlo, Victory, Dante, Guardian, Georgian Bay; (Jumpers) Fire And Ice, Narrow Margin, Joy Ride and there have been many ponies along the way found and trained by Amy Gurney and shown by children to "AA" Championships. Some of these include Victoria's Secret, Escapade, Pixie Dust, Rise N' Shine, Count Me In, Dark No Sugar, and Sam I Am.
Although Amy believes that all show horses and ponies need to be in some type of individualized training program she also encourages her students to work through issues and to learn what they can do differently to get a more positive result from their horse or pony. This in turn makes the student a more capable and confident rider.
